Today's post comes from my Instagram scrolling where images of starvation, hunger, depravation, and bloodshed tear my soul apart, and it screeches -
WHY THERE IS ALWAYS ENOUGH FOR WAR, BUT NOT PEACE?
I am tired of living in guilt as I see my plate to the hilt
perhaps ones deserving a fill, emerge on the coast silent and still,
not knowing where to go, I roar and say, hey I am there, but alas
my voice is whisper for the oppressor, and he doesn't look at my pleading self as I am invisible to their egrigious self.
Oh, my heart churns and burns, for the blessed land is burning like hell!
I assert to one and all, when was a bullet cheaper than the millet, or the bomb cheaper than the womb?
Why is there enough for the ammunition but scarcity prevails for the human condition?
Why do you starve a child to death, while her mother pleads for a few more breaths?
My heart is broken but not defeated, I will keep roaring my questions to one and all, till all prevail in peace and harmony, for peace is always sufficient for all!
Nadia, Your poem is powerful, as usual. I do believe this is what God is calling us to in this world:
"I will keep roaring my questions to one and all, till all prevail in peace and harmony, for peace is always sufficient for all!" Thank you for sharing.
